Human Rights Committee is the body of independent experts that monitors the implementation of the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights (ICCPR) by its State parties.
In preparation for the list of issues for the 130th session of the Committee, 6Rang has made a written a contribution as an alternative report on the situation of LGBTI rights in Iran and suggested questions to be asked as part of Iran’s human rights record review.
This submission mainly concerns Iranian LGBTI people’s right to non-discrimination (article 2, 26), right to life (article 6), freedom from torture (article 7), right to liberty and security of persons and right to fair trial (article 9,14).
This submission reports on the violation of each of these rights and suggests the Committee to request Iran to account for each of these issues and any progress since the last reporting period.
